The main theme of my traveling this time if summarized with 1 single word, was “Friend”.I visited Damascus to see my Syrian friends, visited Senegal to see my charming lady friend, Miss M, and to Rio to enjoy the carnival with 3 funky girl friends.
I flew the first time with Turkish Airlines from Damascus to Sao Paulo, via Dakar.
In Senegal, Miss M took holiday from work to travel with me to Saint Louis in northern Senegal and Cape Verde, an island country speaking Portuguese in the Atlantic.
We enjoyed very much Sao Vincente Island in Cape Verde, especially for the beautiful beach and the carnival preparation.
In Brazil, before heading to Rio, I visited Sao Paulo to see the carnival there and did my first couch surfing (home stay) experience for 3 nights at Tiago’s place.
In Rio, joining with 3 crazy girls, Isabel, Momo, and Miss J, we enjoyed the carnival and the beach.
The best 5 selected experiences are below.
1. Spending the Sunday at Sao Vincente Island in Cape Verde. After driving to Mt.Verde to see the sky view of the island, relaxing at the beach, having lunch and dance at nearby restaurant, we returned to Mindelo, joining the local for the carnival parade rehearsal.
2. Relaxing at the Copacabana beach with the 3 funky girls and the locals.
3. Watching Samba School parades at Sambodrome at Sao Paulo and Rio. In Sao Paulo, I got a chance to participate also to the rehearsal, thanks to Couch Surfing pals.
4. Sightseeing colonial city of Saint Louis in Senegal on a horse car.
5. Seafood and seaside during sunset in Dakar. Thanks to Miss M, I had the biggest shell meal in my life
One bad thing was the wound after the surgery in my back. Because of this, I had to visit clinics everyday to get my wound cleaned and dressing changed. Because of this also, I could not swim at Cape Verde and Rio’s beautiful beach, as well as being shirtless like other people.
旅のサマリー
今回の旅のテーマを、一つの単語で表すと、「友」であろう。
ダマスカスにはシリア人の友人たちに会いに、
セネガルにはチャーミングなMiss Mを会いに、
リオのカーニバルには3人のファンキーガールQR友人と参加しに旅に出た。
初めて乗ったトルコ航空で、一気にダマスカスからサンパウロまで、ダカル経由で行けてよかった。
セネガルで、Miss Mが仕事から休みをもらって、北セネガルにあるコロニアル町であるサンルイと、大西洋に浮かぶポルトガル語をしゃべる国、カボデルを旅行した。カボベルデでは、特にサンビンセンチ島はよかった。カーニバルのリハーサルときれいなビーチを楽しめた。
ブラジルでは、リオのカーニバルに行く前に、サンパウロのカーニバルを味わいたいため、サンパウロに三泊した。
初めて、Couch SurfingというホームステイSiteを利用して、サンパウロの人にとめてもらった。サンパウロでは、そのCouch Surfingのホストのおかげで、前夜のカーニバルリハーサルとサンバスクールの訪問も体験できてよかった。
リオでは、4泊して、3人のファンキーガールの友人と、カーニバルイベントと、コパカバナビーチでの楽しい時間を過ごせた。
5つハイライト経験：
１． カボベルデのサンビンセンチ島での日曜日with Miss M。Mt.Verdeの上から島を眺めた後に、きれいで静かなビーチに行って、そのビーチの近くのレストランで、ランチの後に、現地人と一緒に踊ったり、ミンデロに戻ってカーニバルのリハーサルに参加したりして一日を過ごせた。
２． リオのコパカバナビーチで、3人のファンキーガールとリラックスの午後。現地の家族との交流もあった。
３． サンパウロとリオのサンバスクールのパレード。やっぱり世界で一番大きなパーティと言われて、迫力あった。
４． サンルイを馬車で見回った。
５． シーフードとシーサイドを楽しめたダカールの夕方with Miss M。生まれた初めてこんな量の貝を食った～笑
唯一残念なことは、手術後の背中の傷。毎日、現地のクリニックにドレッシングの交換に行かないといけなかったし、海にも入れなかった
