Today was the award ceremony of Qatar World Environment Day 2010. I won the third prize with my photo showing a group of elephants at Amboseli, Kenya. (see http://joeljalan.blogspot.com/2010/06/photo-contest.html)
The ceremony itself was a good experience. The event was sponsored by UNESCO also.
The prize I got was a bit disappointed though, an iPod from Virgin Megastore and Spa coupon from W Hotel. Saw the pictures that won the 1st and 2nd places, but I think they are not so impressive. Anyway, photo contest is very subjective, can't complain.
My D cancelled going with me, I invited my Polish friend, with a condition that I would go with him to watch Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra concert after the award.
The concert, titled The Best of Musical, was music from famous Musicals, like Phantom of the Opera, Chorus Line, Sound of Music, My Fair Lady etc. This was my first time watching the Orchestra. Enjoyed so more than I expected caused they played the songs I knew.
